Purification (6):

Q1: A person who after urinating performs ablution. He then performs prayer. Within his prayer he feels as though a fluid has come out of his penis, there is uncertainty as to the actual type of fluid. What is the state of his prayers now, is it invalid?

A: If he did “Istibra” which is the process of the confirmation of emptiness of the urethra from traces of urine or If he knew that the urethra has no urine left because of staying sometime after urinating or he knows that from any other reason, then the prayer is valid and he should not pay attention to this doubt.
If he did not perform the process of “Istibra” and he doubts whether the liquid was urine or not, then he should treat it as urine, consider the ablution and the prayer as void and purify the body and clothes that the said liquid contacted.

Q2: Can we use the washing machines in public washing centers? And if we have clothes which are Najis, will they be purified (get tahir) by washing them in those washing machines.
How many times does pure water has to cover those clothes?
And is there any difference between the different najasah?

A: Impure clothes - Najis - with any kind of impurity - can be purified once with tap water if the impurity was removed. Impure clothes with urine can be purified by washing them twice with little water, washing them once will purify the clothes if they were impure by impurities other than urine.
We do not know how the mentioned washing machines works but If your clothes were impure then you can not consider them as pure - tahir again unless you know that their purity was restored by washing based on the above and if your clothes were pure - tahir, then you can continue considering them as so until you know that they become impure.

Q3: If the body has become najis through urine, is it enough to purify it once by using kurr water if while washing, the najasah is being removed?

A: Yes, it is enough to do so.

Q4: If the body has become najis through urine, is it sufficient to purify it once by using water connected to a source (e.g. water-tap) if while washing, the najasah is being removed?

A: Yes, it is sufficient.

Q5: What is the ruling concerning making a dish or utensil tahir with kurr or running water. Should it be washed three times or once?

A: It is enough to purify it once with kurr or running water with the removal of the impurity.

Q6: My baby’s diaper starts leaking in the house and I am sure that one wet spot in the house is urine but I am not sure whether most of the other wet spots in the house are urine. There is a trail of wetness where he was running but I don’t know if it is urine or something else. What should I do? Can I use bleach or chemical cleaning products or a mop?

A: The suggested way does not return the purity of the place. Purification is done with the use of water. After the removal of impurity and when washed with little water, the place of impurity should be washed twice with collecting the water after each time. This can be done by a peace of cloth. The collected water is impure so one should make sure that impurity is not spread because of it. A bucket or a dish can be used near the impure place to place the cloth with the impure collected water.
If running water is used, it is enough to wash the place once with or after the removal of any traces of impurity.
To make sure the place is pure, all expected spots of impurity must be purified.
