Q1: All types of music are Haram?

A: It is unlawful to listen to amusemental music in a way that is based on relish and rapture.

Q2: Is allowed to manifacture, sell, buy or use musical instruments that sometimes can be used in gatherings of corruption and sometimes are not used in such meetings?

A: If the percentage of the permissible usage of such instrument is considerable, then it is allowed to buy, sell and manufacture them.

Q3: Is it allowed to listen to music that sometimes can be used in gatherings of corruption and sometimes are not used in such meetings?
Is it allowed to listen to songs that sometimes can be used in gatherings of corruption and sometimes are not used in such meetings?

A: Listening for the sake of relish is prohibited.

Q4: I thought that war and revolutionary songs were not suitable for gatherings of corruption. However recently I saw in TV some man and women dancing togheter with this type of music, altough the lyrics were Islamic.
Is listening war and revolutionary songs, that can be used both in good and bad gatherings, allowed in Islam?

A: If such music arouse rapture then it is prohibited to listen to, Otherwise it is allowed.

Q5: Is it haram to listen to music which does NOT encourage you to do an haram act? Indian songs in Particular? For example, if you are listening to Indian songs or music in your own room, or in the car while driving? Is it haram?

A: It is not permissible to listen to song if it is for the sake of trying to react with it or for the sake of relish.

Q6: Some Islamic nashids (praising the AhlulBayt) use computerized voice effects, or musical instruments. Is listening to these permissible?

A: If it does not involve - by nature - rapture, then it is permissible.

Q7: If a person is sitting at home, listening to music, the music is suitable for relish and rapture but he is just listening without dancing. He is doing it with pleasure. Is this permissible?

A: It is not permissible.

Q8: I would like to ask about the musical instrument, the Organ.
According to your view, are we allowed to listen to a musician who plays the organ?

A: If the music by nature involves rapture or relish, then it is prohibited to listen to it whether it is from this particular instrument or any other ones.

Q9: I would like to know the ruling on clapping the hands during the reading of anasheed. And what is the ruling of clapping the hands in such a way that it resembles and sounds like the rhythm used in prohibited music?

A: If it is on a music rhythm, then it must be avoided based on compulsory precaution, if it was not on such a rhythm, then it is permissible.
