Q1:
It has been narrated in many traditions from the Holy Prophet(PBUH) and the infallible Imams(AS) that the recitation, memorization, reading and listening of the Qur'an carry great rewards in this world and the hereafter as well.
How can non-Arabic speakers recite with contemplation if they do not understand the meaning of what they read? |
A:
It is recommended to recite the holy Quran for those who do not
understand its meanings. Reciting with contemplation is defiantly better but
this does not mean that reciting without it has no value. |
Q2:
Has the Quran undergone alteration - tahrif of the order of its verses, or is the order of the verses the same order as that during the time of our Holy prophet (PBUHF)? |
A: The sequence of the verses is same as the sequence in the time of the messenger of Allah (PBUHF). |
Q3:
What is Ayatollah Al-Udhma as-Sayyid Muhammad Saeed Tabatabi Al-Hakeem view of the current quran we have today, I would like to know his belief on the order of the verses of the quran? |
A: The current sequence of the verses is the same as the sequence at time of the prophet (peace be upon him) because of the naming of the verses that we inherited from that era. |
Q4: I know the Sunnis say the Quran is not created and the Mutazilites say it is. I dont know what the Shia view is? |
A: The Holy Quran is the words of the Almighty Allah that happened and did not exist before, so it is one of Allah's creations. |
Q5: How do I know that the order of revelations (surahs) in the Quran are in correct order, or legitimate? Where is the proof they are in order beginning with Al-Alaq and so forth? |
A: We can not be certain about the sequence of the revelations of the verses. What we are certain about is the fact that the Quran is the current one. |
Q6: I know that you do not have any doubt in the verity of the Quran which is in our hands nowadays and all Muslims are sure of that, whereas, some people think that the order of the verses has been changed which I find clearly contradicts the quran and hadith of ahlulbayt(as). Therefore, I would like to know what is your opinion concerning the current order of the verses in the quran and was it set by the Prophet(s) and compiled in his lifetime? |
A: There is no doubt that Almighty Allah protected the holy Quran from any changes or alterations and such protection played an important role in guarding the religion and protecting it from alterations and changes. The reason for that might be the fact that the verses of the Holy Quran were collected in one book and guarded during the lifetime of the prophet (peace be upon him) and continued to be like that generation after generation till today. |
Q7: According to ayatollah saeed al hakim (ha) , what is his views on the Quran being complete, does our eminence believe it has not been changed, etc? |
A: His eminence answered a group of questions that were raised to him from a few Sunni researchers when he said regarding the completion of the Quran: “Muslims from shia and Sunni sects have unanimity agreed by practical means that whatever between the two sides of the cover in the current book is the complete holy Quran. The current books of Quran that are spread in all Muslim countries serve as evidence to this truth. Muslims consider reciting the book of Allah fully by reciting the current books of Quran completely; also they considered reciting a chapter – sura from the Quran by reciting the sura that they find in these books of Quran. They do not add a word or remove another. The said is clear in their understanding, conduct and in the verdicts of their religious scholars.
This practical unanimity is one of the strongest proofs about Muslim positions in general – weather they were shia or Sunni – towards the holy Quran. Nothing can stand against such evidence since this shows that the fact that the noble Quran is entirely in the current book is an existing truth that proves itself by its clearness and strength. Muslims has acknowledged it and implement it where all fallacies failed to put any doubts in it”. |
