Q1: If a person is required to have a blood test, and thus extract blood from the body, does this invalidate the fast?

A: No, it does not invalidate the fast.

Q2: Is it permissible to brush ones teeth using toothpaste, and rinse ones mouth with mouthwash, whilst fasting? Also, if ones teeth bleed due to brushing, does this invalidate the fast?

A: It is permissible to do so but we warn you from swallowing as this brakes the fast even if the amount was little. It does not invalidate the fast if the teen bleed while brushing.

Q3: Does vomiting break your fast?

A: If it was not deliberate, then it does not invalidate fasting.

Q4: If one remains janabah until the azan for fajr prayers during Ramadan out of ignorance, is his fast valid?

A: If he did not know that deliberate staying in the state of Janabah till dawn nullify the worship of fasting then it is valid.
It is also valid if he did not know that he was in the state of Janabah till after dawn when he realized it.

Q5: If someone intentionally doesn't fast does that mean they have to pay kaffara as well as keep the qadha - have to make them up?

A: If they broke their fast knowing that they were obligated to fast then, they must pay the keffara and make up the broken days. In addition to that, They must pay 27 kilograms of food for every missed month to the needy people if the make up days were delayed till the next Ramadan.

Q6: I want to keep fasts (Sawm) for two months as a 'kuffarah' for breaking one day fast 23 years back. Should I keep continuously or one month together and other 30 casually?

A: The kuffarah for breaking one day of fasting is feeding sixty needy people. It can also be fasting two consecutive months. If one started fasting from the beginning of the lunar month, It is enough to fast one day from the second month to satisfy the consecutively and fast the rest can be divided any time after that.
If one decided to start during the lunar month, then it is based on compulsory precaution that 31 consecutive days must be fasted. The rest of the fasting period can be divided.

Q7: Yesterday, I got up just as the adhaan for fajr was ending. I drank a glass of milk and made the niyyah for fast. Was my fast valid?

A: Your fasting is void and you should make up the day. If you were sure about the time of fasting and still consumed what brakes the fast then you should pay keffara as well.

Q8: We know that the beginning of the month should be proven by the testimony of two trustworthy witness that they saw the crescent. However, if a trustful person saw the crescent by himself. Can I have the answer for these two cases:
1- If he is the only one who testified and witness the crescent, but no one else went out to look for it. Does he have to fast while the public are not proven for them that Ramadan has started yet?
2- In case he was the only one who saw the crescent, but there were group of people who went out looking for the crescent and came back to witness that they did NOT see it. does he HAVE to fast the next day ??! Or he should be with the public and consider Ramadan with them?

A: If he was certain of seeing the crescent, then he must fast, for the month of Ramadan and break his fast, for Eid al-fitr in both of the mentioned cases.

Q9: I have a sister and she is 9 years old and she can not fast in Ramadan beacuse she is so thin, so does she have to fast?

A: If she completed nine lunar years she must fast unless fasting causes harm to her health.

Q10: On most occasions I fast every month thank god, but sometimes I get exsessive headaches, and water is the only relief. I know we are not allowed to drink water during fasting, but is there a penalty if I fast but drink water so as to relive my heaches, is there a kaffara, what can I do?

A: If fasting was critical, then you can break it and make it out later and keffara is not required.
